Get to know Rochester Rattlers Midfielder Mike Lazore

July 6, 2017
ROCHESTER, NY (July 6, 2017): We continue our Q&A series with Midfielder Mike Lazore. Mike has played for the Rattlers since the 2012 season.

Name: Mike Lazore
Position: Midfielder
College: Hobart
Number: 24

Check out Mike’s answers below:

Q: What are your thoughts on the game against the Atlanta Blaze last Saturday night?
I love everything about the ratz! We have built a pretty special family environment that makes it easier to have to leave my family on the weekends to play. There's no other group of guys I would rather win and lose with in this league!

Q: Any more hiking plans during the bye week this weekend?
I'll be camping in Vermont this weekend with family but my wife and I are planning to hike Big Slide Mountain in Lake Placid after the Denver game.

Q: Two home games in the same week, talk about the importance of those games.
Every game from here on out is a playoff game. We need to get to 8 wins to be in the best position to make the playoffs. It's huge that 3 of our last 4 games with be in front of our Rochester fans.

Q: Favorite pre-game music to listen to?
I listen to Johnny Cash on the ride over to the locker room to calm the nerves  but Blaze Riorden has a great pre-game mix that gets me jazzed up for the game.

Q: What is your favorite activity outside of lacrosse?
I love being outdoors with my wife and dog. We are working on hiking all 46 high peaks and only finished 4 so we have a ways to go.

Q: The defense has a great mix of younger guys and some veteran players like yourself, Donny Moss, John Lade, John Galloway, and Joel White - talk about the play with such a great mix of players.
I've been playing with the guys you mentioned along with Mike Manley since I came into the league. I think the consistency  of our defensive unit has served as the backbone to our team. Most of our D guys come from or have played in upstate New York for the majority of our careers so we really bring that blue collar mentality to the team which have been our identity as a whole. It also makes playing in Rochester that much better. Our younger guys have adapted to that style of play and have been crucial in our success.

Q: Who do you look up to currently and why?
My mother. I have never been around anyone as selfless and devoted to helping others as her.

Q: What is the one thing that you need on a daily basis?

Q: What was the best advice you were ever given?
Don't talk about it, be about it!

Q: Favorite place to eat before a game in Rochester?
Bolty and I need Pita Pit in order to play well. I got him hooked on the Dagwood!
