Manley wins 2nd Defensive Player of the Week

March 18, 2016
ROCHESTER, NY (June 2, 2014) Following Rochester’s decisive victory over the Florida Launch this past weekend, the MLL gave out the most recent roundup of weekly top honors, presented by Warrior.

Among the winners was Rochester’s own Mike Manley (D) who took home the Defensive Player of the Week, marking the second time this season he has earned the award. His first recognition came in week two when he helped lead the Rattlers to a win over the Boston Cannons in the team’s home opener.

In this week’s performance Manley contributed in many ways for the Rattlers, both defensively and offensively. Manley was a key factor in shutting down Florida’s offensive fire power, which coming into Sundays contest had put up 46 goals and earned 3 wins in the process. Manley also provided a pivotal goal late in the third quarter that helped lead to his teams win and keeping the second place Launch at bay.

Along with Manley’s sound defense, the Rattlers saw three separate hat tricks from Dave Lawson (3), Jordan MacIntosh (4) and captain Kevin Leveille (3) who now sits just 3 goals away from the all-time scoring title.

Team USA goalie and Rattler co-captain John Galloway earned an honor of his own, being named Coke’s Player of the Game in the victory. Galloway backstopped his team with 12 saves en route to their 18-11 win over the Launch.

Manley and his teammates make a quick turn-around getting back to the action this Thursday June 5 th. The Rattlers play at home as they take on the reigning champion Chesapeake Bayhawks for a 7:30pm game start from Sahlen’s Stadium in Downtown Rochester.
