Rattlers Lose To Nationals

March 18, 2016
The Rochester Rattlers lost to the Hamilton Nationals 17-8 in Ron Joyce Stadium on Saturday, June 9 th.  Rochester and Hamilton were tied at two after the first quarter, but the Nationals used an 8-2 run in the second quarter to put the game out of reach.  Rattlers star A Ned Crotty (1G-2A) and A Steven Boyle (2G-1A) both had three point nights in the losing effort.  The result leaves the Nationals and Rattlers tied for fifth place in the MLL standings with a record of 2-3.  They are one game behind fourth place Long Island for the last playoff spot one-third of the way through the 2012 season.

Stephen Boyle had a great score in the first quarter leaping in front of the goal and making a memorable play to start the Rattlers off in the lead.  Hamilton A Steven Keogh scored the next two goals to give the Nationals a 2-1 lead before Rattlers rookie M Jordan MacIntosh scored off of an assist from Crotty to finish the scoring in the first quarter.  The first quarter ended in a 2-2 tie. Crotty’s point continued his streak of having at least one point in every game he has played in a Rattlers uniform.  Galloway did a great job this quarter defending the goal and had some incredible saves.

The Nationals started off the second quarter with a goal in the first five seconds.  Stephen Boyle would respond for the Rattlers and tie up the score at 3-3 1:13 into the second quarter.  The Hamilton Nationals would take control of the game from there scoring seven of the last eight goals in the period.  Keogh fueled the run by completing his hat trick and adding three assists.  M David Earl also had two goals and one assist during the Nationals run.  The first half ended with a 10-4 score with the second Rattlers goal of the quarter by FO Craig Bunker.

Crotty would start off the third quarter with his first goal of the game, a unique shot bouncing the ball in 56 seconds into the second half to cut the Nationals lead to 10-5.  Hamilton would continue their scoring streak with the next five goals. Earls added one more marker and Hamilton A Joe Resetarits scored two goals during the Nationals second run of the game.  The third quarter would end with two goals by the Rattlers: a power play by Jordan MacIntosh and goal by Kevin Drew.  The third quarter would end with the Nationals leading the Rattlers 15-7.

The fourth quarter would start off with little action on the field with the first goal being about 10 minutes into the quarter by Rattler Jay Card, followed by two more goals by the Nationals.  The Nationals would leave with the win, 17-8, over the Rattlers.

Keogh ended up with six points (3G-3A) while Earls had five points (3G-2A) for the Nationals.  Although the Nationals would come away with this win, Galloway had 20 saves in the losing effort.  The Rattlers are now 2-3 in the season.  Another bright spot for the Rattlers was MacIntosh’s second two goal night in as many games.  The rookie had two goals and one assist in the Rattlers 17-16 (OT) victory over the Boston Cannons last weekend.

The Rattlers next home game is Saturday, June 23rd at 7PM against the Hamilton Nationals in Sahlen's Stadium. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by calling 585-454-5425or by visiting
