Rattlers Re-Sign MacIntosh, Ranagan

December 7, 2017
FRISCO, Texas (December 7, 2017) – The Dallas Rattlers announced on Thursday that All-Star midfielders Jordan MacIntosh and John Ranagan have re-signed with the team for the 2018 season. Both players were eligible to negotiate with other teams after filing for Player Movement this offseason.

To make room for MacIntosh and Ranagan on the 23-man roster, the team waived goalie Kris Alleyne and attackman Frank Brown.

MacIntosh, 28, had 17 goals, three assists and 13 groundballs in eight games for the Rattlers last season, tying for the third-most points on the team (20). He has recorded at least 20 points in five of his six seasons with the Rattlers, the only MLL team he’s ever played for. He posted career highs in goals (24), points (36) and groundballs (20) in 2015 and was elected to the All-Star Game for the second time in his career that season. In 65 career games, MacIntosh has 111 goals, 36 assists, 148 points and 87 groundballs. The Rattlers originally signed him out of the Player Pool in 2011 after playing collegiately at RIT.

Ranagan, 26, had 16 points (12 goals, 4 assists) in seven games for the Rattlers last season. The New York native has scored double-digit goals in four of his five professional seasons and was named an All-Star in 2013. Drafted by the Rattlers in the third round of the 2013 Collegiate Draft, Ranagan has played his entire career with the Rattlers, accruing 62 goals, 34 assists, 97 points and 49 groundballs in 55 games.

This month, the team has re-signed Jeremy Boltus, John Galloway, John Lade and Joel White, in addition to MacIntosh and Ranagan, from Player Movement. Players who filed for Player Movement and have not signed with a new team by Dec. 8 may be returned to the 23-man protected roster of their original team.
