Rattlers Ready to Take on Machine

The Rochester Rattlers are back in action this weekend, set to take on the Ohio Machine on Sunday, June 2 nd at 5 pm, home at Sahlen’s Stadium. Rochester currently sits seventh in the MLL with a 1-3 record, while Ohio is last in the league and have yet to pick up a win in their first four games.

Last year, Rochester split with Ohio, as each won once in the two games they played against each other. Sunday will be the first time the Rattlers meet the Machine this season, and Rochester head coach Tim Soudan isn’t taking anything for granted. “They have a bunch of really good individuals,” said Soudan. “They’re kind of in the same boat that we are as they haven’t really gelled offensively.”

Rochester has also struggled to gel as of late, as in their most recent loss, the Rattlers only scored seven goals against Denver. To defeat Ohio, Rochester will need more production, and some of that could definitely come from the return of Mike Leveille to the lineup this Sunday. Leveille has played in three games this season, scoring two goals, and adding two assists, and is expected to contribute with his return.

Production could also come from Rochester’s 2013 draft picks, as slowly they will begin integrating themselves with the Rattlers as soon as Sunday. The draft picks will also help to add consistency to the lineup. “It’s been kind of a fire drill with guys in and out of the lineup, and as we get these college kids in, the guys will learn how to play together,” said Soudan.

New players or not, Coach Soudan says that when it comes down to it, all that matters is the team’s mindset. “This team has a lot of pride,” says Soudan. “All we need to do is go out there, play like it’s a Championship game, and get back in the win column.”
