Ratz Spotlight Player of the Year: Drew Simoneau

August 15, 2017
ROCHESTER, NY (August 15, 2017): Rochester Rattler face-off man Drew Simoneau (Nazareth) is your Ratz Player of the Year. Simoneau had a great second season for the Rattlers. He was 57.8% on the season (235-406). He picked up 124 ground balls and scored four goals and had two assists.

We caught up with Drew on Tuesday morning and here's what he had to say regarding the 2017 season, playing in the All-star and more: "I thought the season went well, unfortunately ended sooner than I thought it would. We put together a very good string of wins at the end to make the playoffs. Our team is phenomenal, from our coaching staff, the defense, the attack, and everyone that stepped in throughout the season. As always, spending each weekend with the team was a privilege. Our fans in Rochester did a great job supporting us this season and it showed in our last outing as some 3,500 people were in attendance. The facility and the staff this year at Capelli Stadium were outstanding our hats off to the Rhino's owner and his crew for all their hard work this season. We could not have asked for a better venue in Rochester.”

“As for me, it was a fairly good season. I really can not thank my team mates enough because without them, I don't even come close to having a successful season. Our long sticks (Joel, Danseglio, Moderski, and Stevens) as well as our middies (Near, Lazore, Moss, and Cowboy) gave me every opportunity to win faceoffs.“

“The All-Star game was an incredible event. The most as well as the loudest fans I have ever played in front of. Even though the Stars didn't win, my first trip to California will be one I wont ever forget! "

Congrats to Drew Simoneau and the Rochester Rattlers on a great season.
