Rochester looks to even series vs NY this Friday

Rochester, NY (May 6, 2014)   MLL action returns to downtown as the Rattlers take on the visiting NY Lizards this coming Friday night May 9 th at Sahlen’s Stadium, with a 7:30 pm start time.  NY makes the trip to the Flower City with a 1-1 record, coming off their most recent defeat at the hands of the Chesapeake Bayhawks in OT 12-11.  Rochester enters the contest on a high note, as they overcame a late game surge to defeat the Boston Cannons 8-7 last Friday night, a win that also leaves the Black & Gold’s record at 1-1 on the season.

The two teams will meet for the second time early on in the 2014 season, with NY walking away with the 18-15 win on the league’s opening weekend.  In the first game, contested in the Lizards home stadium, NY came back from a half time deficit to defeat the Rattlers in a back and forth affair.  The Lizards saw seven different players find the back of the cage in the victory, with Rob Pannell scoring six goals.  Max Seibald and Albert Maione led the scoring effort behind Pannell, scoring three goals each. Pannell was named the Player of the Game for his impressive performance in the season opener.

Rochester had its bright moments in the season opener against the Lizards, as Justin Turri had 6 points on the night, and Dan Hardy led an ill-fated comeback late in the game with a total of 4 goals and 1 assist.  The Rattlers are coming off an impressive victory in its last outing over the Cannons, as G John Galloway was voted the game’s Coca Cola Player of the Game, A Kevin Leveille came two goals closer to the all-time goals record and D Mike Manley’s great play garnered him MLL’s Warrior Defensive Player of the Week honors. 

Friday’s game will see the return of two former Rattlers standouts in Ned Crotty and Matt Striebel.
