Week 15 Pregame Notes
The Rochester Rattlers win streak hit three in a row as they continue to drive towards the playoffs. Denver, Ohio and Florida all claimed playoff spots with their wins over the last two weeks. With a win on Saturday night, the Rattlers will claim the final spot in the MLL playoffs. The Rattlers beat Atlanta Blaze on Saturday, 11 to 7.
Jordan Wolf sitting out since the Cannons game, players including
Ryan McNamra and others have stepped up in a big way. The Rattlers defense with goalie
John Galloway leading the charge have also stepped up. Galloway made seventeen saves in the Rattlers win over the Blaze on Saturday night, 11 to 7. The defense was able to lock down the high-powered Blaze offense and Atlanta only scored two goals in the second half.
Ryan McNamara and Ty Thompson each scored two goals and Thompson also had an assist. Seven other Rattlers scored one goal including:
Jack Curran and
Jordan MacIntosh. With veterans including: Wolf, Ned Crotty and Dhane Smith not available for the game against the Blaze, it was truly a team effort for the win on both sides of the field.
Last weekend, The Machine played the Lizards last weekend and won, 21 - 14.
Peter Baum (Colgate) led the Machine with five goals, one two pointer and one assist. Goalie
Kyle Berniohr (Maryland) had twenty-one saves in net for Machine.
2017 Season So Far
Currently at 7 – 6, the Rattlers have won three games straight in July to get back in the playoff hunt. The Rattlers look to continue to build that momentum with a win over the Machine as they close out the 2017 regular season and head into the MLL Playoffs next weekend. The Rattlers win and they are in, lose and they are out of the playoffs. It’s a must win situation. If the Rattlers win on Saturday night, Denver will be the #1 seed, Ohio would be the #2 seed, Florida would be the #3 seed and Rochester would be the #4 seed.
What to Look Out For
Will Jordan Wolf return to the line-up? We’re hoping to see Wolf return to the line-up but if not, rookie Conor Gately has been playing well in place of Wolf.
New faces on the Rattlers include: Conor Gately (Marquette),
Eric Fannell (Attack / Midfield / Ohio State),
Zed Williams (Attack / Midfield / Virginia), Ryan McNamara (Attack / Midfield / Marquette) and Jack Curran (Villanova).
MLL Playoffs start next weekend, Saturday, August 12th. Both Denver and Ohio will host the semi-final games.
