The Rochester Rattlers will officially start their 2013 MLL season with a two-day team training camp this weekend at the University of Albany. Although no current draft picks will be present at the camp, the Rattlers expect to welcome back key anchors from last years team, as well as new acquisitions made in the offseason.
Camp is expected to be similar to last years, with Head Coach Tim Soudan, and assistant coaches Jacques Monte and Bill Warder running drills and physical testing to evaluate players and talent. Game like situations and scrimmaging is to also be expected, and a more finalized roster should be anticipated following the conclusion of camp.
Making a late playoff push toward the end of last season, the Rattlers came up just short in their last game of the season, falling 15-14 to Charlotte, ending their playoff hopes and finishing the season at 7 and 7. Rochester seeks a return to the playoffs this year as they kick off game play in their 11th season in Major League Lacrosse against the Chesapeake Bayhawks on Saturday, April 27 at 7:30 pm in Al Lang Stadium in St. Petersburg, Florida. The Rochester Rattlers’ home opener will be Sunday, May 5th at 3:00 pm in Sahlen’s Stadium against the Charlotte Hounds.
