Major League Lacrosse, the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league, announced the weekly award winners for Week Three of the 2013 season, which concluded on May 12. The winners are chosen every week by MLL Commissioner David Gross and are based on outstanding in-game achievements. The Warrior Offensive Player of the Week went to Rochester’s own Ned Crotty.
Crotty helped lead the Rochester Rattlers to their first win of the 2013 campaign, defeating the Charlotte Hounds 13-10 Saturday night, at American Legion Memorial Stadium. The attackman rifled in three goals, and dished out four helpers, to cap a seven point effort in the rematch from Week Two. Crotty led a third quarter surge, contributing on three of Rochester’s four goals, including a highlight reel one handed wrap-around goal. In only his second game of the season, Crotty sits atop Rochester’s leaderboard with 10 points. His five points-per-game is tied with Hamilton’s Kevin Crowley for most points-per-game in the League thus far. This marks the first Warrior Player of the Week award for both Crotty and Rochester this season. The 1-2 Rattlers travel to Denver this Saturday, May 18, to take on the 3-0 Outlaws at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. Tune into CBS Sports Network at 10:00 PM (ET) to see full coverage.
Crotty joined Major League Lacrosse in 2010, drafted out of Duke University, to the Chicago Machine. The New Vernon, N.J. native is now in his third season with the Rochester Rattlers. Since joining the League he has amassed 60 goals, 55 assists, 115 points, and 34 ground balls. In 2011, he and Paul Rabil tied for front-runner in total points with 50 a piece. His 21 assists ranked first in the MLL, while his 29 goals ranked third. Crotty was selected to the All-Major League Lacrosse team in both 2011 and 2012. Thus far, #22 is on track for another stellar season.
