Koshansky was a two sport athlete in high school at St. Anthony’s, where he was a two time all-league selection in lacrosse. Will continued to play at the University of Pennsylvania, becoming an All-Ivy League selection for the Quakers. Prior to the 2012 season, Koshansky was drafted by the Boston Cannons in the 5th round, and 37th overall of the 2012 MLL Draft. Following the draft, the Rattlers traded their 5th round pick in the 2013 MLL Collegiate Entry Draft and their 6th round pick in the 2013 MLL Supplemental Draft to acquire Koshanksy from Boston.
Koshansky was acquired from Boston by Rochester for their 5th round pick in the 2013 MLL Collegiate Entry Draft and their 6th round pick in the 2013 MLL Supplemental Draft. Head Coach Soudan on Koshansky: “Will is a destructive force on defense who consistently causes turnovers.”
2012: Played in 13 games for Rochester. Tallied 15 ground balls, 1 assist, and 1 goal. His lone goal of the season turned out to be the game winner in a 15-13 win against Long Island on 7/7.
Will was a standout defender for the Quakers, starting all 4 years. Koshansky was a multiple time All-Ivy League selection, and was consistently among the national leaders in caused turnovers. In his career, Will played in 51 games while starting 42, and tallied 7 goals, 4 assists, 103 ground balls, and 88 caused turnovers.
2012: Team tri-captain… Second team All-Ivy selection… Started all 13 games on defense… Third on team with 16 caused turnovers, and fifth on team with 24 ground balls… Scored on his only shot of the season against Lehigh on 2/28… Three groundballs vs. Villanova on 3/10… Caused 3 turnovers against Brown on 4/7… Three groundballs at Bucknell on 4/10 and Dartmouth on 4/21… Had an assist, four groundballs, and three caused turnovers in a 10-8 loss to Virginia in the Mile High Classic on 4/27
2011: Second team All-Ivy League selection… Started all 15 games… Helped lead Penn to first national tournament appearance since 2006…Ranked first on Penn, first in Ivy League, and third nationally in caused turnovers per game… Ranked third nationally in caused turnovers with 45… Recorded 47 ground balls to finish second on the team… Tallied 5 goals and 2 assists… Had an assist and four ground balls in a victory over defending NCAA champion Duke on 2/26… Had a goal, an assist, and 6 caused turnovers in win over Bucknell on 3/1…Had 7 ground balls and 6 caused turnovers against Villanova on 3/12…Scored a goal, had 3 groundballs, and 6 caused turnovers in an Ivy OT win at Harvard on 4/16… Scored once, picked up 6 ground balls and caused 5 turnovers against Dartmouth on 4/23 ... Scored a goal and caused 4 turnovers in a loss to Virginia on 4/30 ... Picked up 3 groundballs and recorded 2 caused turnovers in NCAA Championship first-round loss at Notre Dame on 5/14
2010: Played in all 13 games, starting 5… Split time between defense and long stick middie… Led Penn with 15 caused turnovers and finished fourth on the team with 21 groundballs… Also tallied 1 goal… Had 5 groundballs and 4 caused turnovers while also recording his first collegiate goal at Yale on 4/3…Tallied three groundballs and three caused turnovers in Penn's 12-7 Ivy win over Harvard on 4/17…
2009: Played in 10 games as a freshman, starting 9… Finished second on team with 12 caused turnovers… Also tallied 11 groundballs and 1 assist… Recorded assist in first collegiate game at Drexel on 2/21… Notched first career start at Harvard on 3/21… Had three groundballs and four caused turnovers at Bryant on 3/22… Tallied three caused turnovers in consecutive games at Cornell on 3/28 and against Dartmouth on 4/3
