Bio

Rob Rotanz started his lacrosse career at Fairfield Prep, and continued on to play at Duke University. Rob quickly became a standout midfielder for the Blue Devils, appearing in 77 career games, and also earning First-Team All-American honors. Rob later was the 8th pick in the 2012 MLL Collegiate Draft, selected by the Ohio Machine. Rob was acquired by Rochester when Rochester traded both of their second round picks in the 2013 MLL Collegiate Draft for Rotanz and Ohio's fourth round selection. 

 

PROFESSIONAL: 

Head Coach Soudan on Rotanz, "Rotanz is the dodging middie that we’ve been looking for. He was a dominant player for the past two seasons with Duke.  We think that he will fit into our midfield mix and be a contributor."

Rob Rotanz made his MLL debut against Long Island (6/1).  In his debut Rotanz scored the first goal of his MLL career.   

2012 (Ohio): Appeared in two games with the Machine, scoring one goal and picking up two ground balls. 

2012 (Rochester): Played in six games with the Rattlers, scoring nine goals and added two assists. Also picked up three ground balls. 

 


DUKE:

Rob was a standout midfielder for the Blue Devils. In his career, Rob played in 77 games with 44 career starts. He finished his Duke career with 78 goals and 18 assists for 96 points and 65 ground balls. Rob also owns the Duke single-season record for goals by a midfielder with 40 in 2012. In his senior year, Rob was an All ACC selection and a First Team All-American. 

In his first three years at Duke Rob Rotanz posted a combined 38 goals and 10 assists.  In his senior season Rotanz almost doubled his goal total, leading the team with 40 goals and adding in eight assists.  Rotanz’s 40 goals in a season were the most by a Duke midfielder in the school’s history.  During his senior season Rotanz was also named a 2012 All-ACC selection and a 2012 USILA Scholar All-America honoree.  Rotanz also totaled 10 goals in the 2012 NCAA Tournament, which ties him for fifth in Duke history for most goals in an NCAA tournament.  Rotanz finished his career with 78 goals and 18 assists for 96 total points.
