Dave was named the number eight recruit in the country by Inside Lacrosse coming out of Middlesex High School in Westford, Massachusettes, where he was both a U.S. Lacrosse and Under Armour All-American. Dave played his college lacrosse at Duke University, and was one of the leaders on his team, becoming a first line midfielder his senior year. Dave and the rest of his Duke team won the 2013 NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse Championship. Lawson was selected in in the 5th round, 40th overall in the 2013 MLL Collegiate Draft by Rochester.
2013 Statistics: In 8 games for Rochester in his Rookie Season Lawson scored 18 goals and had 5 assists. He also picked up 10 ground balls.
2013: Dave was an All-ACC selection, and also was selected to the NCAA tournament team. Played and started in 20 games. Scored 34 goals and added 17 assists for 51 points. Also picked up 23 ground balls.
2012: Played in 19 games at midfield ... finished the season with 14 goals and six assists for 20 points ... had 30 ground balls and seven caused turnovers ... had five multiple-point efforts overall and two hat trick performances.
2011: Played in 20 games and started eight in the midfield ... ranked fourth on the team in scoring with 23 goals and nine assists for 32 points ... was named to the ACC All-Tournament team for his seven goals in two games ... registered at least one point in the final 17 games of the season and had seven multiple point efforts ... tallied multiple goals in three games to rank tied for third on the team in goals ... had 15 points in his final seven games of 2011 ... finished the season with 33 ground balls.
2010: Saw the field in all 20 games as a defensive midfielder … picked up 14 ground balls and had six caused turnovers for the season.
