Luke Cometti played lacrosse while in high school at West Genesee, helping lead them to the 2008 New York Class A state championship with 51 goals and 36 assists. Throughout his career at West Genesee, Cometti notched 161 points (101 goals, 60 assists) and collected 56 groundballs, contributing to the team's 21-3 record.
Cometti continued to play in college, attending the University of Albany and Syracuse University and studying political science. His first two years at Albany he tallied 11 goals and six assists in 21 games played. Upon transfering to Syracuse in the fall of 2011, he held the third most highest amount of goals on the Orange with 11. His senior year at 'Cuse, he was named USILA Honorable Mention All-American and the All-Big East First Team selection. He started all 20 games and led the team with 34 goals and nine assists.
