Tom Montelli had a break out senior season with the Duke Blue Devils in 2011 as a close defender. He was named a USILA Third Team All-American with the Blue Devils. The Rochester Rattlers selected him with the 26th overall selection in the 2011 MLL Collegiate Draft. Duke UniversityTom Montelli was a key member of the Duke University face off midfield as a sophomore and junior before he had a breakout season as a close defender his senior year. Montellli also displayed a knack for scoring big goals in the NCAA Tournament for the Blue Devils. Monteli was named a USILA Third Team All-American as a senior. He anchored a defense that gave up only 9.10 goals per game. Montelli played in 20 games at close defense and started in 19 of them for the Blue Devils. He led the team with 28 caused turnovers and was second on the team with 55 ground balls. Montelli recorded a goal and an assist in the NCAA Tournament’s First Round victory over Delaware. Montelli was a key member of the Blue Devils face off midfield as a sophomore and as a junior. His sophomore year he scored the game winning goal against North Carolina in the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals As a junior he was second on the team with 22 caused turnovers and also chipped in a career high four goals. The Blue Devils face off team won nearly fifty-five percent of its restarts during Montelli’s junior year. |
