RATTLERS LOOKING FOR FIRST WIN

The Rochester Rattlers host the Boston Cannons this Saturday night, June 18th, at 7PM at Sahlen’s Stadium.  Rochester’s second-year attacker Ned Crotty had the best game of his professional career last Friday night at Sahlen’s Stadium.  Crotty scored five goals and added two assists for seven points in the Rattlers 14-13 loss to Hamilton.  “There were a couple of times there where we needed a goal and I just went for it.  I was feeling pretty good. My stick felt good. I felt like I had a pretty good step on my guy.  I just felt confident.”  Crotty said

Crotty has ten goals this season and is in a four way tie for the top spot in MLL in goals scored.  Co-leaders Danny Glading (Che), Brendan Mundorf (Den), and Peet Poillon (Den) have all played in one more game than Crotty.

Webster, New York native Grant Catalino is looking to make his Major League Lacrosse debut with the Rattlers this weekend.  The rookie attacker from Maryland had a very successful senior season with the Terps.  His four goal effort in the ACC tournament led Maryland to its first title since 2005.  His seven goal, three assist performance in the NCAA tournament led the Terps to their first national final since 1998.  He finished his Maryland career seventh in Men’s Lacrosse history in goals (119) and tenth in points (185).  Catalino joins rookies Joel White, Jovan Miller, and John Galloway who all made their MLL debuts last Friday night against Hamilton. “The additions we have from the college game with Joel, John, Jovan, and we’re looking forward to having Grant in the line-up, are definitely a big help.” Crotty said.

Boston enter the game at the top of the Major League Lacrosse standings with a record of 3-1.  The Cannons lead the league in goals scored with 59, and has four of the top seven leading scorers in the league.  Brad Ross (8G-3 2ptG-4A) and Paul Rabil (8G-1 2ptG-6A) are tied for the MLL lead with 15 points while Max Quinzani (9G-5A) and Ryan Boyle (8G-6A) are tied for fifth with 14 points.

The Rattlers are off to an 0-3 start to the 2011 season, but see hope for a breakthrough this weekend against the Cannons.  “It is a long season.  Unfortunately we are at the point we are, but we are definitely making progress.” Ned Crotty said.
