The Rochester Rattlers traded midfielder Jovan Miller to the expansion Charlotte Hounds for the Hounds first pick in the third round (17th overall) and first pick in the fourth round (25th overall) of the 2012 MLL College Draft.
The move leaves the Rochester Rattlers nine pciks in the Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft. The Rattlers will start the draft with the third pick in the first round. In the second round the Rattlers will select third (11th overall) and fifth (13th overall). In the third round Rochester will have the first pick (17th overall) and in the fourth round they will have the first (25th overall) . Rochester will have the third pick in rounds five through eight.
“Pundits have panned this draft for not being as deep as last year’s draft was.” Rattlers Head Coach Tim Soudan said. “We made a move so that we would have a significant presence early in this draft. We are now looking at having three picks in the first thirteen and five of the first twenty-five picks. “
The Charlotte Hounds would receive the Rochester Rattlers third round pick in the 2013 MLL Draft if Jovan Miller does not report to Charlotte. If Miller fails to report his rights would revert back to Rochester.
The Rochester Rattlers also added M/FO Jerry Ragonese back to their active roster. Ragonese played for the Rochester Institute of Technology from 2006 to 2009. Last year Ragonese played in three games for the Rattlers. He collected three ground balls and went 14 for 40 at the “X”.
The 2012 MLL College Draft will be held on Friday, January 13th, 2012 at the Liberty Ballroom in Philadelphia’s Marriott Hotel from 8:30PM to 11PM. The draft will be broadcast live via streaming video on the Major League Lacrosse website at www.majorleaguelacrosse.com.
