Rattlers Trade Striebel and Crotty to New York for Catalino

The Rochester Rattlers have executed a trade with the New York Lizards that will send MLL veteran Matt Striebel to the Lizards, in exchange for a 4th round Collegiate Draft selection and a 6th round supplemental draft selction. The Rattlers have also traded Ned Crotty to New York in exchange for attackman Grant Catalino, the 3rd overall selection in the 2014 Collegiate Draft and the Lizards' 1st round selection in 2015.


Grant Catalino will return to Rochester, where he played his rookie season in 2011, after two seasons with the Lizards. In his three seasons in the League, Catalino has played in 24 games scoring 48 points on 35 goals, five 2-point goals and eight assists.


Striebel has been in the League since 2001, when he played for the Bridgeport Barrage. Striebel stayed with the Barrage until 2008, winning three Steinfeld Trophies with the team in 2004, 2006, and 2007. In 2009 Striebel went to Chicago, followed by Rochester in 2011. A five-time MLL All-Star, Striebel made all-star game appearance in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2011 and  2013. He also was a member of Team USA in 2002, 2006, and 2010, wining gold in the World Games in 2002 and 2010.


Striebel leads the League in games played, making 150 appearances since his debut in 2001. In 2013 he ranked 7th in the League for 2-point goals scored, finding the back of the net seven times from behind the arc. Striebel also ranks 9th in the League for career points, with 348.


Ned Crotty began his career in Chicago, where he was selected first overall in the 2010 Collegiate Draft, and named the 2010 Cascade Rookie of the Year. After one season in Chicago, Crotty was picked up by the Rattlers, where he played three successful seasons. In 2013, Crotty tallied 36 points, a team best, on 15 goals and 20 assists, and one 2-point goal. So far in his career, Crotty has played in 44 games, scoring 141 points on 70 goals, 70 assists, and one 2-point goal.

The 2014 MLL season is just around the corner and will begin in earnest with the 2014 Collegiate Draft from Philadelphia, Pa., on Friday, January 10. The event will be broadcast live on the League's YouTube Channel
