Rattlers open season in Long Island

March 18, 2016
Rochester, NY (April 25, 2014)  The Rochester Rattlers kick off the 2014 season on the road against the Long Island Lizards this Sunday, April 27 that 6pm.  The game will be played at the Lizards home venue, James M. Shuart Stadium in Hempstead, NY.

Lizard’s Matt Striebel, Ned Crotty, and Steve DeNapoli who were acquired from Rochester through trades in the off season, will face their former teammates for the first time.  Long Island looks to snap a 4 game losing streak, which extends over the last 2 seasons.

As the Rattlers get the season underway, team co-captain Kevin Leveille begins his quest to become the all-time goals leader, as he sits at 262 and needs 9 more to surpass Tim Gottelmann for first place.  In addition, Leveille sits only 2 game winning goals away from holding that record also, as he is in second place again behind Gottelmann.

The Rattlers are looking to capitalize from a very successful training camp, as they slimmed down their final roster and are hoping to make a strong run at the Steinfeld Cup, Major League Lacrosse’s top prize.

The team returns home to face the Boston Cannons on Friday, May 2 ndat 7:30 pm at Sahlen’s Stadium in their home opener.
