Rattlers Return Home to Host Hamilton

March 18, 2016
The Rochester Rattlers return home for the first time since June 1 st as they host the Hamilton Nationals in Sahlen’s Stadium on Saturday, June 23 rd at 7 PM. Both teams enter the game 2-4, and are two games behind the Long Island Lizards for the fourth and final playoff spot in Major League Lacrosse.  The game will break the tie for fifth place between the two teams before going into the 2012 All-Star break.

The Rattlers lost 16-12 to the Denver Outlaws in INVESCO Field at Mile High on June 16th.  Brad Ross, who was acquired by the Rattlers from the Boston Cannons last week in a trade for Marty Cahill, made an immediate impact for the Rattlers scoring a hat trick (1 2-ptG) for four points.

Superstar attackman Ned Crotty’s status is a major question going into Saturday’s game versus the Nationals.  Crotty, who leads the team in goals (8), points, (14) and assists (6), left against the Outlaws in the third quarter with an undisclosed injury.  Crotty finished the night with no points, which is the first time he’s not scored a goal or assist during his tenure in Rochester.

Young Gun Defender Joel White had a strong performance with two goals, one assist, and five scooped ground balls against the Outlaws.  White and SSDM Steve DeNapoli are tied for the team lead in ground balls with 17. Attackman Kevin Leveille had two goals and one assist in the Rattlers loss.

In the teams’ last meeting on June 9 th the Nationals defeated the Rattlers 17-8.  The Nationals had career nights from Stephen Keogh and David Earl. Keogh scored a career-high six points with three goals and three assists while Earl had a career night with three goals and two assists.  Earl and Keogh will both make their All-Star debuts with the Young Guns in the upcoming All-Star game.

The Rattlers will be honoring the Rochester Knighthawks 2012 NLL Championship Team during Saturday night’s game.   White was a member of the Kinghthawks team while Cody Jamieson, Keogh, and Walters are members of the Hamilton Nationals who were also on the team. The NLL Championship Trophy will be at the stadium, andGoalie Matt Vinc and team captain Pat McCready will escort the Cup onto the field.

Sahlen’s Stadium will be hosting their highly acclaimed pre-game party when the gates open at 5:30 PM.  Rochester’s pop-rock band Cherry Bomb will be playing on the end zone concourse underneath the scoreboard.  Cherry Bomb’s Michelle Jimenez (vocals), Brandon Mustardo (keyboards), Keith Dudinski (guitars), Michael Sciortino (bass), and John Sciortino (drums) will be on-stage from 6PM to 7PM. The Zone’s (94.1 FM) Street Team will be in stadium for the pre-game party.  There will be $1 drafts and $1 hot dogs in the end zone concourse from 5:30PM to 7PM.
