Rattlers Take on Outlaws in Final Home Game

March 18, 2016

The Rochester Rattlers return from the All-Star break for their second meeting in 2013 with the Denver Outlaws for their final home game this season at Sahlen’s Stadium on Saturday, July 20th, at 1 PM EST.

Rochester first met Denver early this year at Sports Authority Field on May 18 th, falling to the Outlaws with a score of 20-7. Steven Boyle, Rob Rotanz, and Jordan MacIntosh all scored a pair of goals in the game, but the Rattlers were unable to overcome a strong Denver start in the loss.

With the All-Star game last weekend, Rochester returns to action on Saturday for their first game after falling to Hamilton 10-6 on July 7 th. Kevin Leveille and Steven Boyle both tallied two points, and goalie John Galloway recorded 16 saves in the loss.

Denver has not played since July 4 th, and travels to Rochester after last defeating New York 16-7. Denver sits in first place in the league with an undefeated mark of 10-0, and has already clinched a playoff birth in 2013. Denver also has one of the league’s most potent offenses, lead by attackman Chris Bocklet, who leads the MLL with 33 goals. 2013 MLL All-Star Mike Manley and the rest of the Rattlers defense will need to be on their best game on Saturday to hand Denver their first loss of the season.

Rattlers midfielder Jordan MacIntosh enters Saturday’s game after dishing out three assists last weekend in the 2013 MLL All-Star game presented by Moe’s Southwest Grill. MacIntosh leads the Rattlers with 16 goals this season, and will look to increase that total against Denver. Rookie midfielder John Ranagan, who scored one goal in last weekend’s All-Star Game, will also return to gameplay on Saturday. Counting his All-Star Game tally, Ranagan is currently on a six game scoring streak, and hopes to extend that streak to seven against the Outlaws.

With only four games left in the season, and the playoffs just around the corner, Rochester could certainly use a win on Saturday. The Rattlers currently own a 4-6 record, and sit one spot outside the fourth and final playoff spot, tied with Charlotte for fifth place. A win this weekend would give the Rattlers their fifth this season, and would move them one game closer to clinching a playoff berth.
