Hempstead, NY (April 27, 2014) The Rochester Rattlers opened their 2014 season on the road against the New York Lizards at James M. Shuart Stadium in Hempstead, NY on Sunday. The Rattlers looked to continue their 2 season long, 4 game win streak against the Lizards as they faced a team that acquired two outstanding former Rattlers, Ned Crotty (DND) and Matt Striebel.
The Rattlers opened the game with the first goal until New York returned fire with 3 straight unanswered. As the first half ended, Rochester had a slight lead 9-8. Although Rochester looked sharp on offense, it wasn’t to be as NY started the 3
rdquarter quick and rattled off 6 straight goals to take the lead and never look back. Rochester did make a late game surge, but came up short losing at regulation 18-15.
This marks the first time NY has pulled out the win over Rochester since 2011. Justin Turri and Dan Hardy both had huge games for the gold and black. Turri notched a hat trick and 2 assists with one tally being a 2-pointer. Hardy made a statement by hammering in 4 total goals to lead the team in the opener. Off the NY bench Rob Pannell lead the team with 6 total goals, while Max Seibald and Albert Maione each had hat tricks for the Lizards.
