The Rattlers move back into the city to play 2016 home games at Aquinas’ Wegmans Sports Complex
(May 2, 2016) The Rochester Rattlers of Major League Lacrosse have come to terms with The Aquinas Institute to announce Wegmans Sports Complex as the host site of their 2016 season. This move puts the Rattlers back into the heart of Rochester and is just the first stage of a fan-focused season.
“We’re so proud to welcome Rochester’s own, Coach Tim Soudan, the Rochester Rattlers, and local lacrosse fans to Wegmans Sports Complex this season,” said Aquinas Institute Athletic Director,
Anthony Bianchi. “It’s an honor to have some of the best lacrosse players – some who have even come up through Section V – play on our field. We’re truly looking forward to this partnership and being part of the Rattler family.“
The Aquinas Institute is a college preparatory co-educational school educating students in grades 6 – 12. The centrally located campus and its Wegmans Sports Complex, provide a welcoming environment for all fans and first-time lacrosse spectators. Fun games, in-game contests, and time to meet the players and receive autographs will add to the overall family-friendly experience. The venue will allow fans, for the first time in team history, to purchase on-field suites that will put them right in the center of the action. Bleacher seating will also be available.
“We are really excited to play at Aquinas’ Wegmans Sports Complex. Fan support is critical to our longevity in Rochester so attendance is important and I think the new location will encourage fans to take the quick ride to Aquinas,” said head coach, general manager, and Rochester native
Tim Soudan. “We’ve been really competitive over the last few years and each game provides fans the ability to see the best players in the world compete. The staff at the Aquinas Institute is wonderful to work with and we embrace the opportunity to provide the best possible experience for lacrosse fans young and old.”

John Galloway are also looking forward to being closer to their supportive fan base. "I think I speak on behalf of all of my teammates when I say how thrilled we are to be back in the city of Rochester,” said Galloway, now in his sixth year with the Rattlers. “Having Wegmans Sports Complex as our home field will allow us to create the fan base that we’ve been hoping for, help us grow the sport in Rochester, and continue to grow the game throughout the Upstate area.”
Galloway, excited for the season, is urging fans to “come support us as we start our journey to the Steinfeld Trophy!"
The Rattlers kicked off their 2016 season on April 23 with a rematch of the 2015 MLL Championship against the New York Lizards at James M. Shuart Stadium. The road campaign continues for two more weeks before the Rattlers host their home-opener on May 28 against the Chesapeake Bayhawks.
