SCORING SHOWDOWN IN BOSTON

March 18, 2016
The Rattlers Ned Crotty and the Cannons Paul Rabil will be in the spotlight on Saturday night when Rochester travels to Boston for their regular season finale in Harvard Stadium at 7PM.  Crotty and Rabil are the top two scorers in Major League Lacrosse this season, and one of them will likely leave Harvard Stadium with the 2011 scoring title.  Boston (8-3) has already secured the number one seed for Championship Weekend on August 27 th and 28 th while the Rattlers were eliminated from the playoffs with a 15-6 loss in Long Island on July 28 th.

Rattlers second year attack Ned Crotty leads Major League Lacrosse in scoring with 45 points.  His 26 goals are second in the league and his 19 assists are tied for first place with former Rattlers star Joe Walters.  Boston’s Paul Rabil enters the season finale just one point behind Crotty.  He is third in the league in goals (25) and assists (16).  When the two teams met in a 16-14 Boston victory in Rochester on June 18 th  Rabil was the Bud Light Player of the Game with four goals and two assists while Crotty had two goals and one assists.

The top seeded Boston Cannons enter the regular season finale with a host of other star players at their disposal.  Attack Matt Poskay leads Major League Lacrosse in goals (28) while attack Ryan Boyle is tied for fourth in the league in assists (15).  Cannons goalie Jordan Burke is an All-MLL candidate who leads MLL in wins (7) and is second in goals-against average (10.42) and saves (159).

The Rattlers enter Saturday night’s game continuing to look towards the future.  Crotty and Syracuse University rookies Joel White, John Galloway, and Jovan Miller along with Rochester native Grant Catalino, form the foundation of Rochester’s 2012 campaign.  The Rattlers ‘Young Guns’ are looking to make a statement against the Cannons. “People think, ‘oh you are out of the playoffs so you have nothing to play for.’ We are a team that can hurt teams going into the playoffs. Our goals are to beat Boston – they are a great team and beating them would be huge for our confidence going forward – and being able to make them limp into the playoffs. That might sound messed up, but that is something we have to play for. We are playing for next year. We’ve got a lot of unbelievable talent and a lot of young talent, so moving forward we are really confident in the team that we’ll have.” Ned Crotty said.

“Being the top team in the league, if you go down there and beat them then people talk. I think it would be great to end on a high note and we’ve got nothing to lose. We have everything to gain out of it.” Rochester Rattlers coach Tim Soudan said.
