Wolf powers first place Rattlers to playoff berth

March 18, 2016
ROCHESTER, NY (July 26, 2014)  Rookie Attackman Jordan Wolf continued his incredible streak of top level performances, powering the upstart Rochester Rattlers (9-3) to the peak of the MLL standings as sole bearers of first place and also their first playoff appearance since 2008.  The Ratz took on the visiting Charlotte Hounds at Sahlen’s Stadium on Saturday night, and clinched that playoff berth with a 13-9 win.

Wolf had 5 goals and 2 assists in what was a close battle throughout most of the game, garnering another Coca Cola Player of the Game award.  The teams entered half time tied at 6 goals apiece, until the Rattlers came out strong and pulled away for the remainder of the game.  A strong showing by the Rattlers defense made the difference in the game, specifically the performance by Syracuse University alum John Lade.  Lade made multiple interceptions in front of the crease, continually stalling the Hounds’ attempts to get shots past goalkeeper John Galloway.

Rochester will now return next Saturday night, August 2 ndto face the visiting Ohio Machine (6-6), looking to make good on their first disappointing meeting that went Ohio’s way 18-13.  The Machine will enter Sahlen’s Stadium off of a big win over the Denver Outlaws 23-22.  That win gives Ohio sole possession of 4 thplace in the MLL standings and provides the Rattlers with another tough test as they attempt to now lock up hosting duties for one of the two semi-final MLL playoff games.
