MLL Attends NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championship Weekend
Major League Lacrosse attended the 2011 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championship Weekend in Baltimore, Md., as thousands of lacrosse fans flocked to M&T Bank Stadium for a lacrosse-packed event. MLL athletes from each of the league’s six teams represented MLL in the Fan Zone, through on-field clinics, and on-field interviews during DI and DIII games. With everything from autographs and giveaways to Q&A’s, the weekend culminated with three former Virginia Cavaliers in an on-field interview during the second quarter of the Championship Game between UVA and Maryland. The Inner Harbor was home to the NCAA Pep Rally where Long Island Lizards star and longtime fan favorite,
Stephen Berger, answered questions on-stage before a sea of lacrosse fans. MLL Legend Mike Powell played in the “Mike Powell Band” to entertain fans between interviews. Berger signed autographs for fans both young and old after speaking on-stage and it was an exciting kick-off to the weekend.

Christian Pastirik of the Long Island Lizards signed autographs at the Youth Lax Day in Maryland Square as young fans made their way towards M&T Bank Stadium. Pastirik was drafted in the 2011 supplemental draft and played his college career at Cornell University, playing a final year at Towson.
MLL was also part of the LAXperience Fan Zone where an emcee hosted MLL players on a demo field and introduced them to a large crowd before the semifinals.
Matt Bocklet of the Denver Outlaws,
Thomas Burke of the Boston Cannons, and
Geoff Snider of the Hamilton Nationals showcased their tips and tricks after answering questions from star-struck fans. The event culminated in an autograph session in the Fan Zone.
Buggs Combs of the Rochester Rattlers and
Matt Bocklet made on-field appearances during the DI semifinals. Their interviews were displayed on the Jumbotron as they answered questions before thousands of fans.

Sunday began with a private clinic for Baltimore Middle School on the field at M&T Bank Stadium.
Geoff Snider and
Thomas Burke gave words of wisdom to over 100 young lacrosse players. A second clinic was offered to the general public and the athletes signed autographs and assisted with drills for the youngsters.
A second appearance at the LAXperience Fan Zone was spearheaded this time by MLL star
Matt Danowski of the Long Island Lizards,
Scott Rodgers of the Hamilton Nationals, and
Justin Smith of the Chesapeake Bayhawks.
Eric Martin of the Denver Outlaws joined them for an autograph session.

Monday May 30, 2011
The final event of the weekend was the DI Championship Game where the University of Virginia defeated the University of Maryland with a final score of 9-7 for the 2011 National Title. Three UVA alums took the field for a final interview during the second quarter.
Ken Clausen and
Ben Rubeor, all former Cavaliers, spoke to a crowd of over 35,000 people.
