Matt Danowski scored 4 goals including, an MLL record tying, three 2-pointers in leading the Long Island Lizards to their third win of the season over the Chicago Machine.
While the first two meetings between the two teams went overtime this one was settled in regulation with Long Island winning 17-15.
The Machine led by one with 3 minutes remaining before Stephen Berger tied the game. Danowski then connected on his third 2-pointer of the night providing the margin of victory.
Stephen Peyser scored 4 goals for Long Island who also got 2 goals each from Tim Goettelmann and John Orsen. With the win the Lizards improved to 4-5 on the season and are tied with Chicago and Chesapeake two games behind league leaders Boston and Denver and a game ahead of Toronto in the MLL standings.
The Machine were led by Mike Leveille and Ned Crotty who scored three goals each in the loss.
